The target population for weight-loss peptides (such as smegglutinin, dulaglutide, and other GLP-1 receptor agonists) mainly includes two groups: first, obese individuals with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30; and second, adult patients with a BMI between 27 and 30 who also have at least one overweight-related condition (such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obstructive sleep apnea, etc.). Furthermore, these medications are generally only recommended for adult patients and should be used under the guidance of a physician as an adjunct to diet control and exercise therapy.
It is important to note that although some people may wish to achieve weight loss through these medications, their applicability is strictly defined medically. For example, non-overweight individuals (BMI < 27) who simply want to be "thinner" due to appearance anxiety are not recommended candidates. Additionally, the effectiveness of these medications varies from person to person; some users may experience significant weight loss, while others may not see noticeable results, and there is a risk of weight rebound after discontinuation.
